Well, EDCI 505 has come to an end. I can absolutely say that I learned a *ton* from this class! And I enjoyed learning so much! I never realized how many different technologies are available to teachers right now. I'm extremely excited to learn this as I can see myself using some of these ideas in my classroom. Since I will be teaching business, I feel it's important for me to keep up with the latest technologies and share them with my students.
I really love the idea of the electronic portfolio. I hope that I will be able to use it during the interview process to showcase the projects that I've created. Although, I didn't see how using the Webquest format would work for the portfolio. Since the Webquest has certain sections (i.e. task, process and evaluation) I didn't see how that could be modified for a resume. But I still like the idea of a Webquest, just not for my portfolio!
All in all, I enjoyed this class immensely and look forward to using my new found knowledge for my future students!

October 24th Update
Hello!
Well, since my last post, I've worked on two different modules - Wiki's and Movie Making. Wiki's were very interesting to me. I can see uses for them in a classroom in that students can make comments and update documentation without having to use email. Email gets confusing when there are a lot of changes, so the wiki would be a better fit.
I really liked looking through all the different forms of technology that are available right now. Although I have to admit that it sometimes gets overwhelming when I think about incorporating all these things into my teaching. Maybe if I get an idea of each avenue, then when a certain unit is coming up, the lesson will fit naturally into one or more of the technologies. I hope I'm not to overwhelmed in that I can actually use some of these fantastic uses of technology!

October 10th Update
Hello!
This week I have spent a lot of time on my PowerPoint presentation using hyperlinks and animation. I had no idea that there was so much you could do with PowerPoint!! I'm having trouble with some of my nonlinear hyperlinks, I just can't figure out why they won't work. When I choose the page to link too, that page doesn't give me a preview. But I don't know how to fix that! Anyway, once that is complete, I will be all finished.
In one of my other classes we are going to be creating a Photo Voice presentation in PowerPoint. So this lesson has helped me already for another class! I'm excited to learn how to use technology in my lessons for students as I will be teaching Business. It's really important for me to stay up on the current technology available. I'm going to be doing my student teaching this spring, so I can't wait to see what classes I will have. I'm going to try and incorporate PowerPoint for sure.
The module on spreadsheets was basically just a review for me since I was an accountant and lived Excel for the past 15 years. But I did learn one thing new - Google Docs. I had never used them before. It's nice to know there's another option if you don't have Excel. Although Excel is so awesome, I wouldn't want to live without it!

Assignment 3 - Wordprocessing
Hello!
This is my very first post on my very own blog - how exciting!
I really enjoyed the assignment for creating a newsletter. I am going to be teaching high school business, so this activity is something I will really use. During my first field experience, I was with a teacher that taught only computer classes and one of the classes was Word. So for one of my lessons I decided to have the students create their own Word advertisement. They could choose anything they wanted such as babysitting services and lawn mowing. Previously the students only worked out of the book and they didn't get a chance to use their creativity. The feedback I received from this activity was great! I kids really loved being able to "play" around in Word with colors, fonts and clip art. So the activity we did for this Ashland class fits right in line with what I will be teaching. I'm glad I was able to learn a little more about Word 2007, as I'm not as familiar with the current version as I should be.
